External Microphone connector to CANON Legria HF R106
| CANON LEGRIA HF R106 camera, like the other CANON low-cost HD cameras, do not have external connector for microphone. Internal microphone captures the camera focusing motor sound wich is very disturbing. You can hear the motor sound allso in this YouTube video. |
There is lots of free space inside the camera, perhaps for additional FLASH drive. The plastic case has a room for external connector, under the hand support. Electret MIC produces a low-voltage signal, so do not feed high-voltage line level audiosignal to this connector, it may fry the camera microphone amplifier.
From eBay you can get a good $10 wireless microphone, from which you can feed the signal straight to this connector. External and internal microphone has a great difference in sound quality, especially when recording outdoors, on windy weather.
